i've played a lot of shitty broken early access games, midair isn't one of them. runs brilliantly on an old gtx660, snappy and responsive controls and hasn't crashed once.
terrain-wise, if anything i'd tone down the amount of bumps. no matter what direction you're hurtling in you can always spot a ramp somewhere and it feels a bit ez mode. not having falling damage probably exacerbates it. the maps are generally very natural looking with no stupid spires of rock either side of a volcano that would make a geologist rage quit. some of the rock objects have some clipping issues and also i'm yet to stub my toe on a map tile, remember that was a thing sometimes? some maps are huge and while there's an oob grid there's also a edge of map grid beyond that. you can't ski off into the distance forever but you have plenty of room.
base-wise, some are obvious rectangle placeholders and some are more polished with pipes and curvy bits and textures. flag stand-wise, there's a good mix of open stands and structures/terrain that force side-caps. everyone is still working out routes but you don't have blatant shit like arx nova which may as well have had a long distance ski jump with the enemy flag at the bottom pointing you back to your base. a couple of flag stands worry me a bit, you can get a huge amount of altitude without too much effort and in the right hands that'll translate to unchaseable back caps. have had some intense chase's in the last couple of days, gotta keep that phase of the game going.
