MGS V The Phantom Pain

The Soviet invasion of Afghanistan has brought a new edge to the Cold War, and in 1984, a one-eyed man with a prosthetic arm appears in the country.
Those who know him call him Snake; the legendary mercenary who was once swept from the stage of history and left in a coma by American private intelligence network Cipher. Snake is accompanied by Ocelot, an old friend who saved him from attack when he finally awoke.
Now, Snake's former partner Kazuhira Miller is being held by the Soviet forces in Afghanistan.
Snake must undertake a solo mission to rescue Miller and prove to the world that the legendary mercenary is not dead and gone.
That first step will lead to a path of vengeance against the very Cipher that slaughtered so many of Snake's men, and to a battle that will embroil the whole world.

MGS 1 & 2 were on PC, V will be too.

I'm just super keen to be able to play MGO with a kb&m and the base management/raiding.

I'm surprised anyone would call anything starting with "The Phantom..." after the SW Prequels.

Or Rust or Ark or a bunch of other games but those games don't let me create a nation-less cold war period mercenary army that I'll use to farther my own bitter plans for vengeance, then go mess with someones base.

The traditional MP rounds of TDM and Attack/Defend will be a boat load of fun as lots of the single player mechanics get some form of translation.

What's this about base raiding?

Haven't really heard anything about this game since ground zeroes came out on PC, too absorbed into other shit I've been playing.

IGN Review 10/10
Gamespot Review 10/10
I had planned it all very carefully. There were way too many guards still looking for me, and with sunrise coming shortly, I had almost no chance of making it out to the nearest safe landing zone with an injured prisoner on my shoulders. But I wouldn’t have to. During the night, I planted some C4 on this outpost’s radio communication equipment, the anti-aircraft battery, and most importantly, their AA radar. So I took a deep breath, detonated all three at once, called in a chopper, and watched it all unfold. After a short while, my ride swooped in, blasting an APC to bits with a ferocious rocket barrage, and cutting infantry down with heavy machine gun fire as I scrambled from my hiding place to the main courtyard, prisoner in tow. I hopped in with my precious cargo, and then jumped on the side-mounted minigun to keep the newly arrived reinforcements at bay as my chopper smoked and sputtered its way out of the hotzone.

That’s Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain almost all the time, and what’s truly incredible is that none of this escape was scripted or directed. My mission was simply to get that prisoner out alive. The rest of it, from the time of day I chose to approach to crippling the base’s ability to deal with an aerial assault was a testament to how perfectly all the pieces of Phantom Pain’s gameplay fit together.

Bring it on.

For anyone like me who can't remember half the shit that happened in the metal gear series, I'd recommend this

"Movies" made up of all the cutscenes and relevant gameplay sections of the series. Really well edited and put together.

Apparently the game has a skyforge style "get dudes and send them on missions for resources" style thing going on

Thing is, if you want to have more then two dudes on missions, you need a "forward operating base"

and to get an FoB, you have to spend real money on microtransactions

No, you don't. There is going to be some shitty "resource boosting" purchase option, which is entirely Konami's fault, when you build extra shit for your base it takes X amount of real time which you can mitigate with cash, it's a shitty mobile game time short cut payment feature, because Konami are shit cunts who are obsessed with microtransation mobile shit at the moment.

You get your first FoB using in game currency but if you want additional FoBs you gotta fork out cash, which is also total bullshit.

Having an FoB gives you access to the PvP base raiding stuff, I would be amazed if the single player army/mission management aspect of the game was tied directly to the amount of FoBs you have. If so and there really is no way to acquire additional FoB's without spending real money then Konami is going to get a fair bit of hate mail.

Regardless of what the situation is, putting microtransactions in this game is pretty scummy.

I'm fucking nuclear.

I'm worried about how they're going to try and jam them into MGO, because holy shit I'm looking forward to MGO, the FoB stuff seemed to be icing on the cake for me personally, but if they fuck with MGO I will cry.
