T:A - Vintage :: Rule set discussion

This is a very tentative draft of a ruleset I'm putting together for a tournament in hope of bringing most of the old players back for one last whirl as well as getting the T:A only people a real taste of a more balanced competitive setting.

Originally I had left out all Chain weapons but felt that it could become a bit bland completely disc only. Tribes has always been very pro chain just not to the blatant extent of T:A. I have basically tried to cut out all the unnecessary classes in the game (INF, RDR, DMB, BRT)
and have only left in TCN and SEN as functional but not essential pieces of the puzzle.

A lot of the easy mode stuff is gone (impact nitrons, reach, sonic punch, dmb mines/ff/ego for sld and tch capping/superheavy). Impacts are definitely up for negotiation.

I know this isn't perfect but the game is so riddled with shit its difficult to find some sort of balance. I think this could be a positive step to some flag focused play with less of the bullshit.

Please provide constructive criticism.

7 vs 7 is lame.

Add in core spawn and change to 9vs9or even 12vs12. that would make me happy

Looks better than the current ruleset tanz has got going :laugh:

I agree i'd like 9v9 dude, don't think we'd be able to get enough teams with a 9v9 though. Maybe a year ago!
*Edit Core spawn isn't really needed, there are only 5 classes :wink:

With the BXT and blaster as there only weapons? I don't know about that, will have to see. One on one they cant defend themselves at all.

Like I said its all just a notion at this stage, hopefully it becomes more than that and with everyone's input something eventuates!

*edit yeah you could say its stolen but moreso that we want the same type of things :)

BXT has far harsher drop-off than the SAP or the Phase, and it's easier to deal with a SEN who doesn't have the Falcon/Acc Shotty. I've been getting my Nova on in pubs recently and I forgot how powerful it is, it's still perfect viable.

Ruleset looks good Dose, I'd be keen as hell to play.

It all looks pretty good. I just don't see why the eagle and sparrow pistols are banned. I understand banning shotguns and the colt but the pistols are piss weak with minimal range. Basically the only hitscan/chain weapons that work properly in the sense of being a finisher to combine with your explosive.

the right ruleset will make any form of pug or draft type games far far more enjoyable

the more back to basics we get the better -

* good capping
* good chasing
* HO
* munky work
* HoF

the more these are the focus the more enjoyable tribes is....

reduce overall lethality as much as possible, keep a free flowing game not dependent on deployables and snipers

its actually quite easy to do in the current server setups, dose this could work :mrgreen:

but no, oh this gun is ok but its hitscan thx shik...that path is the road to lack of harmony
