I'm really looking forward to release for this. In fact, with the exception of WoW and to a lesser extent Starcraft 2, they have been doing a great job of creating fun games:
Diablo 3 (2016 not release version) is a fun challenge each season, HOTS is just how a MOBA should be for a casual player like me and now this. If they fixed the story telling in SC2 (aka fire Metzen and get a real writer) I'd love the campaigns a lot more. Ironically it's the WoW juggernaut that pales in comparison as it's stagnant.
I'm almost wishing that they'd sorted out the MMO mess that lent the assets to Overwatch as it could have been fun - especially as Guild Wars 2's PvP tanked badly for me with the expansion (actually, they ruined the entire game IMO).
each hero has one base weapon I guess, but it can be used in different ways, some have another weapon, all have cooldown based skills/abilities. Tf2 had a bunch of weapon options but most of them were junk that no one used unless they were just looking to muck about, and a few others were crazy OP. Don't get me wrong I loved tf2 and played it competitively for like 2 solid years but most of those unlocks were just terribly balanced one way or another.
TF2 also only had 9 classes and a few of them were super specialised so all those extra weapons and stuff were needed to add some versatility and variance to a game limited by so few class choices, overwatch launches with 21 characters/classes so rather than I guess swapping secondary weapons to counter a new issue you swap class.
That can only be a good thing imo. Have had my eye on this for a while but unable to have the PC setup in my current arrangement so it would mean I'd have to get it on console. Shooters usually sell well on console and Blizzard have supported Diablo 3 exceptionally well on those platforms too but I wonder how much harder something like this would be with a controller.Serious question, What does this game offer that tf2 doesn't? But yeah, im loving it sofar, i played alot this weekend on my account, but im almost rank 100 on a friends account, im trying not to play too much of the beta. at the moment the competitive mode is alittle annoying in Australia, with the lack of players, at the lower ranks it would match me against australians but getting higher in ranks it only matches me on American servers.
I have about 100 hours playtime if anybody has any questions.
I saw a McCree video and the whole video was this guy stunning people with some instant grenade and then instakilling them with a revolver burst fire. What the fuck kind of world am I living in where "ganking" is not only a thing that exists in an FPS like this but apparently also a character's intended primary playstyle? How can anyone approve of this?
Welp, time to go back to angrily rewartching old quake frag videos and generally living in the past.
Also in the tracer montage, at least one of the ones I posted, it was to showcase the character and it seemed like they were going out of their way to not kill the tracer for the purpose of making it look cool. Which it did. But it's not as you describe where tracer has this amazing mobility no one else can posses.
Then again, my idea of relaxation is World of Warships nowadays
Used to a lot between like 2010 and 2013, wasn't super happy about some of the directions they took with it but I checked out the new steam client thing and it's really solid aside from the pricetag killing a lot of the casual interest the game got when it was free and browser-based.Do you play quake live Tobias?
I'm still pretty lukewarm on overwatch, looking into it more and hearing from a lot of people about how high end play is really driven by meta and counterpicking more then individual skill.

Re counter-picking, you change class in spawn to adjust just like TF2. If anything it keeps the game fluid. Besides, fuck ranked, I want to have fun
Ironically Tobias it scratched my Quake/UT itch nicely. The only complaint is the maps (in closed beta) feel a bit tight - but I could argue that about any number of FPS
