Regardless of what the situation is, putting microtransactions in this game is pretty scummy.
It's been known for some time that it was going to have microtransactions but only getting one free FOB with no other means of getting the currency to purchase them is new, and is majorly bullshit. Konami are scum.

Apparently the retail PC version only has a steam installer on the disc too... :yellow_laugh:

Game is pretty unforgiving, I get a little bit into the first mission, spend 20 minutes scouting a base, one guy turns around at the wrong moment and ruins everything, decide "fuck I'll just restart mission" and lose over an hour of progress. Gonna have to suck it up and avoid the compulsion to savescum until I get it perfect if I want to make any actual progress.

Server MOTD thingo about daily login rewards, you do get "MB Coins" as login every few days.

Also man I hope there are more maps later on in the game, because the first open afganistan area only has like 10 "bases" on it, some of those are just a couple mud huts next to a road

You know those times when a thing you've been looking forward to turns out to be everything you hoped for?

I'm asking the wrong community. But use your imagination.

Just started fucking with...

The game is so so good. I thought Witcher 3 had GOTY on lock but damn if there isn't going to be a battle for 2015 game of the year.

Its so addictive trying to do a perfect mission, I have lost so much time in replaying certain area's trying to perfect shit. fun times.

I'm getting a little bit bored of breaking into the same bases over and over again, started out trying to pure stealth no kills everything but now it has reached the point where I just use the grenade launcher to clear the area because it is faster.

Silenced tranq sniper rifle is easy mode. I'm not ashamed.

Weapon customisation is pretty neat but there's an obvious choice in terms of the straight up best assault rifle unless you're playing on console and auto aim is a factor in your decision.

Haven't researched much in the way of pistols and smg's since they're sort of pointless in terms of progressing the story but I've got my FOB online now so I'll be decking my guards out with a wider variety of toys.

Yep, Ground Zeroes was pretty much the first Meta Gear ive ever played, I haven't found it jarring or problematic in anyway really.

Loving it.

The one you start with that has the silencer, I assume?

Nah, at the moment I prefer the "UN" line, it has a highest effective range and grouping, which are the two stats I'm mostly interested in, than the "AM" rifles, the type you start with which has the most balanced stats and is the prettiest, the SVG/PG (The AK looking ones) seem pointless, tho they have the highest auto aim.

In terms of pistols, I have no idea which is the best lethal pistol, I haven't even used one yet other than the one that shoots grenades because fuckin' grenade pistol fuck yeah (there's a smoke version too), the Burkov seems to be the only automatic pistol that gets a tranq conversion option, but the default tranq pistol gets an infinity suppressor at grade 5.

I've done stuff all weapons R&D so there could be better options down the line, I have got a water pistol tho, that's kinda cool.

It doesn't seem like you have the option to put a silencer on any version on the UM-ARC though, if you're going to go loud you may as well go really really loud and bring the hip slot grenade launcher

Phantom pain is the better crafted game by far Punk. GTAV is fun for a bit but the novelty wears off quickly, and unless you want to run around randomly killing people and get annoyed at even more when doing heists in GTA Online then TPP will be the better choice.

even if ive never touched metal gear before, maybe something on pc ages ago that was an interactive movie i barely remember, buy this over gtav

gtav's characters were.... lacking. Everything felt so forced and it was cringe worthy

Sentiments may be tinged by the fact that most of us have played GTAV for many months while MGSV is new and shiny. GTA Online has a lot to offer and is updated every other month, next updating being a pretty big addition to freeroam activities coming out in like 2-3 days, while MGO is also going to be a thing we don't know how extensive it'll be beyond a simple objective based TDM game and it doesn't come out until january. If you're just concerned with getting 60 or so hours out of a singleplayer experience and being done with it, MGSV is definitely the way to go though.
