I have no idea what type of game this will be but whatever it is it will be good.

I get some kind of, base... vehicle... building, exploration... type vibes.

Yeah I kinda made the assumption it would be some form of strategy game based on how they pushed the "from the creators of homeworld" type thing.

"Long March Industries (LMI) is a ruthless interstellar megacorporation that owns all rights to LM-27, a mysterious and hostile desert planet littered with the buried wrecks of ancient starships. LMI oversees a galactic gold-rush as prospectors and fortune seekers converge on LM-27 in search of the untold riches buried in its burning sands. In this persistent multiplayer game, players command a fleet of massive vehicles as they explore, salvage and fight for fortune and survival in the world’s first planetary-scale social strategy game."

All of my money.

ever since i was a little tacker i have had a dream, and that dream is for a persistant world online squad based FPS set in Gorkamorka

Nearly got my wish. Setting sounds very similar, but I was disappointed to learn that its a strategy game.

Persistent multiplayer game, ugh. While I like them obviously (aka ps2), the chance of them rocking is so much less than them sucking. Would prefer a regular multiplayer strategy game anyday.

The term "strategy game" is pretty open, you could describe X-com as "strategy".

I CANT HELP BUT SPECULATE ARGH.

Will it play like a traditional RTS with a Total War style campaign map, where territories are worth X resources per tick depending on what type of wreck they contain?

Or will the game focus on smaller squads you control directly while locating and exploring the wrecks, sort of like many Starcraft campaign missions or even a gridless real time X-com with vehicles, while you fend off other people trying to do the same?

Will contesting an area or wreckage be a defined "game" where defined sides have a bout over it and a clear winner or loser is determined or will the world be more like an MMO world and whoever is "raiding" the wrecks engage each other?

Will the "persistent world" be seamless or broken up into regions? Will there be front lines like Planetside 2 where you can't take a zone unless it's connected to yours? Do you "capture" regions or will controlling an area simply mean, you actually have to control it by killing everyone else while you loot and plunder?

The blurb claims "fleet of massive vehicles" but you might be restricted to using X amount of stuff at a time and simply have the option of having lots of stuff deployed in different places.

Yeah. Why wouldn't they just wait til THQ auction off their remains and see about grabbing the Homeworld IP and run with that?
I'm sure Hardware will be good.
But Homeworld 3 is what everyone wants.

Wonder if there will be any base building, I haven't seen any. Currently it kinda of reminds me of the Ground Control games from early 2000's.

I really loved that game, great resource gathering, but I'm still pissed that I couldn't play up a rescue helicopter being shot down for more resources.

That's a damn good question.

I have a feeling you're going to have a "home base" which is where all your loot resides, (which may or may not have an actual location or just your inventory screen) but in terms of base building during a skirmish/raid I'd guess the Baserunner is a really sexy MCV that Optimus Primes into your field HQ, beyond that no idea. I'd prefer if they kept base building, even if it's in the form of larger/slower production vehicles, Homeworld style. Having assets to protect that are more than an immobile target/finish line (DoW2 base) keeps things dynamic. DoW2 made a misstep in that regard by offering NONE imo.
