Brian Cox Megathread - Because everyone loves Cox

Image

Brian Cox (not the actor from Super Troopers) is an English physicist who's probably best known for his talks and videos on the LHC and of course lol being in D-Ream back in the 90's. He has hosted a wealth of amazing documentaries on space, gravity, time and everything. He speaks so eloquently and his explanations of the most complex theories of the universe make it somewhat easy to understand. I want to share what I've watched of his with you guys and add to the list below if I've missed anything. You can find all of the below on youtube but I highly recommend going to your favorite harbor for pirates to find a higher quality copy to download. The other things he's done that has been mentioned in his wiki I've been unable to get a hold of and I would greatly appreciate a hookup if you any. Specifically the bbc radio show The Infinite Monkey Cage eps.

BBC Horizon episodes:
- 2007 The Six Billion Dollar Experiment
- 2008 What On Earth Is Wrong With Gravity
- 2008 Do You Know What Time It Is?
- 2009 Can We Make A Star On Earth

- BBC Stargazing:
3 eps to each season from 2011 and 2012. Also watch the Back to Earth talks he does after each show, you can also find them on the tubes hereand here. The Irish block gets pretty annoying would of been better if it was hosted by Brian only but that's just a :mancrush:

- Professor Brian Cox A Night With The Stars - Really interesting talk, has a bunch of pommy celebs "helping" him out with various experiments.

Both seasons of the following are absolutely amazing and I highly recommend watching:
- Wonders Of The Solar System - Bluray from EzDVD
- Wonders Of The Universe - Bluray from EzDVD

- Sunshine (2007 movie) audio commentary by Brian Cox - I've ordered a copy of the Bluray from EzDVD it's apparently better than the actual movie so I can't wait to get it.

That's all I've got so far but again let me know if you've come across anything else you've found interesting as I can't get enough! Also obligatory...

He was on an episode of QI, a British quiz show hosted by Stephen Fry. The episode he was in was S09E07 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lcircwx00Sg) which was broadcast 21st October 2011. He was grilled on the LHC, the moons of Jupiter (mainly by Ross Noble, who wanted to know if there were Ewoks there) and other ... physicsy things.

[e] added link.

I finally got my copy of Sunshine on bluray and listened to the commentary, highly recommend picking this up if you see it was really cool listening to the scientific insight of the movie.

Dr Cox was on Triple J with Dr Karl the other week. Here is the podcast - some amazing stuff in there (like did you know CERN is colder than the coldest point in the universe?)

In a strange twist my neighbour Dan was the caller who asked the question about Big Bang radiation...I never knew he was into this sorta stuff so that was a nice find amongst all the other gold in this podcast +1

The JJJ one was waay too short but pretty interesting.

Was wondering if anyone had a recording of when he did his live shows in Melbourne/Sydney? Can't find anything :(

Also the Infinite Monkey Cage has been really good esp the Patrick Stewart ep, the pod cast xml is here: http://downloads.bbc.co.uk/podcasts/radio4/timc/rss.xml

Re: Brian Cox Megathread - Because everyone loves Cox

Weren't the prices like $140 a ticket or something?

AAA Rockstar prices right there. And rightly so.
