Nemesis Refered me to t1 at his Lan place, hooked from day one, first map Dangerous Crossing

Time working out invo = 15 min and 4 explanations
Time to deploy turret = 10 min +
Time to first sucesfull skiing = 2 months

I have no Idea why I liked it I just couldn't get enough.

insomniax > shifter.

Insomniax was at least somewhere near balanced. Whenever i looked at shifter the game was totally unbalanced and it was mainly newbs playing (i cant remember any shifter players that could actually dual)

Shifter:
aaron
Mert
Mutilator
myself
Vurt
Mojoman
Evilking
Coza
all the old RD, ICE, HAOF, FR players

Insomniax players were just as bad from memory, the ones that played base as well were the better players in Insomniax =Aw= and BIA in particular.

I may have just not seen them playing.... Whenever i joined there were newbs that couldnt even jet properly.

BTW back in the t1 days I was =Aw=Duff5000, we beat -=BIA=- and they never played again.

Insomniax was a decent mod that didnt go over the top, shifter was a bloated POS.

and as for the above. insomniax > Shifter :P

obviously the good clans made the switch to base before you guys where around with your llama clans. [XLR8] Chokehold

lots of players came from that mod. Lots of younger players on shifter that grew out of it.

I would never go back to shifter now
i was saying to mojoman the other day the fundamental difference besides balance between shifter and base is player interaction - you just dont get the player interaction in shifter that you do in base - for example you don't ever really fight another player - it's all turrets fighting a player, sniping another player from a hill. There is no flag chasing etc.
Although, I do recall blaster duels with RD Sickfest - who was probably one of the best shifter players i ever came across.
But I gotta admit it was fun going Arbitor (the one armour no one ever did go) getting one of those teleport beacons and having people call me a hacker because i teleported into their base through their mountains of forcefields :P
Insomniax was a alot of fun for a while - how fucken fun was the rocket pack for the heavy you'd ski at a mach 10 and hit a wall and explode.
I couldn't go back to that either though... Flak Guns sucked. So you'd always need a heatsink pack.

I got it in the summer of 97/98 along with my still trusty copy of windows 98 from a mate who got it from a work mate in South Africa when they were doing some network stuff. I played it a bit then it gathered dust while I broodwared for a year or so then been back since.

If your referring to T1 plaz then I think you mean 98/99 as it only came out in summer of 98/99.
