format for next bittah midair comp

not doing signups yet, but looking at end of august / early sept for the next comp

same deal, want to have the whole thing run in an evening.
do we want to keep it as a draft comp or let teams of 5 join.
do we want to do a base comp? or keep it LT for now.

My only thought is there will be a lot of new players when the comp is on so if you don't make it like a semi draft you will have the new guys just get rofl stomped in a matter or minutes, which won't make for good viewing or gg's. At this point in the life of the game it should be getting as many people interested in playing to build a good player base for release.... just my two cents.

I voted for 7man base draft - because I think we need to try different things and having it be a bit more organised might help show off some areas that need more attention.

Also draft because we don't need a stacked team dominating at this stage. I'm happy to play with whomever I'm grouped with.

I agree with this, we want to grow this new game into a healthy competition or league. Training new players and teaching them fundamentals will keep them with us and increase player satisfaction. This is what killed T:V as it had lots of new players but lost all the good players, we cannot repeat that.

Base draft or full team comp might be the better.

If we get 40 plus dudes signing up we could have 4 teams of 10. 7's will kinda suck.. its not TA :)

Base will suit 8's +!

7 is a bad number base.

As someone who is still waiting for beta access and has only been following the posts on bittah, my opinion means fuck all.

Having said that, since the Bittah 5s was a success, may I suggest that you keep it at 5s for now? It's far easier to organise five players as opposed to seven, and the player base is still relatively small. Perhaps consider pushing to 7's once beta starts and the player base grows large enough to support it?

Lets test out a base pug before we decide the comp will be base.

We have more than enough players to get a pug going on a sunday night in the coming weeks.

Get people to sign up for a pug during the week. Hobb and Petty can choose the teams based on who signs up. If there are extra's on the day we can just add them in on the day.

I think base needs more work, and we as a community need to play more pub/pug maps of it, before we set anything in stone.
I also really enjoy the "odd numbered" game that 5v5 was vs say, 8,10,14 etc we seemed to play in T2 CTF. So I like the idea of a 7 or 9 team base.

But yeah whatevs really, hope I'm home for it

I'm with these 2 guyz. 8man sounds perfect. That way positions are easier to work out (especially in this early stage of development)> I looked over possible strategies and 8man (or 10 depending on numbers) looks spot on. Maps need to be a chosen large or it'll be HO capping and without mine-disc you only have BB to stop them romping home with that baldheaded HO.:D

if we get four teams of eight it could be a round robin (each team plays four rounds) with a final at the end
32 ppl plus a couple of subs and we're set

i don't mind 7s tbh, the odd number makes strats more interesting: do i 4o/3d, 3o/1m/3d, 3d/4o?
looking forward to the day we do a 12v12 tho
