[Doco] Jodorowsky's Dune (2014)

Interesting documentary about this rather crazy fellow who tried to adapt Dune into the most ambitious Sci-Fi film ever made, pre Star Wars. The dude had a massive set of balls on him, and, tellingly, managed to convince every artist he approached to come on board, but not the moneymen. After the project disbanded, the team he assembled went on to influence popular cinema, especially Sci-Fi, for decades to come.

This is a very interesting film if you are interested in the creative process, and quite inspiring if you want to see commitment to one's vision in action. You can easily see how Jodorowsky could inspire artists to work with him, and why he would've made executives uneasy. I'm not sure if the film was made that it would've been the greatest film ever, as the documentary purports (that's a doco trope "oh the tragedy, this would've changed the world" etc), but his influence is undeniable.

So a recommend if you are a Sci-Fi fan or a creative.

Yeah this was a good watch. And again, I'm reminded I need to see Holy Mountain.

I desperately want someone to make this a reality. The costume design is outstanding.
