Happy Holidays 2009
|
|
Well well,
Another year has come and gone(going??).
Funny how as you get older, things move faster.
I mean, when I was a kid, a week used to take, well, a week.
Now, you glance away, and it's Friday, and all of a sudden, it's Monday again.
As always, I just got used to writing 09 for the date, and now it's all changing again, FFS.
I want to take a moment to thank a few fantastic people who have kept this site going.
First and foremost, all the people listed here;
http://bittah.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=16892
Thank you very much for you financial support.
I'd like to also thank the people who make great contributions to this Interweb place.
DJ for his great game reviews.
JBT for his informative, yet sometimes a little weird theories.
Plazbot for posting insane amounts, yes, over 20% of all posts on this site are by him, frightening, I know.
And everyone else for contributing.
I hope you all have a Safe and Happy Christmas.
Be kind to your fellow human being.
And ring your Mother ffs, (NOT ON A TELSTRA PHONE).
Peace.

IRC server moved
|
|
Hi all,
The new IRC server is now up and running.
I've updated the DNS for irc.bittah.com, however, that may take a few hours to hit your ISP.
If you can't wait, please use:
irc2.bittah.com
You can find OPS persons in #tribes and #bittah.
Currently OPS are:
geebs
Zed
Cheers,
geebs.

Bittah migration
|
|
Hurro,
Some time next week we will be migrating the bittah website and irc server.
I'll have a firm date next week.
No changes to the website, just a clean up of some old code not used, Server bookings etc...
There will be a DNS change, so there may be some downtime for those who wait for their DNS to update, or the clever ones can just change their hosts file.
I'll post all the details on the old site when the move is completed.
The IRC server will be rebuilt from scratch, too many botnet complaints.
We are yet to finalize which IRC daemon we are going to use, most likely InspIRCd or even ngIRCd. We will need a few new Moderators to take care of the IRC server and weed out the tards, yes I know it may get lonely there. Email me if you are a long time user, non-tard, and love to idle, I will post a list of users and put it to a vote on the forums.
I may even eventually stand handing out email address, yet to be decided.
Hosted Game servers and Teamspeak will be de-commissioned,
Anyone with any major concerns, feel free to email me admin <at> bittah <dot> com
Peace.

R.I.P. Xen aka. Mike Leong
|
|
Hi Guys,
It's been a number of years since the days of playing Tribes, but I have tragic news for you all. Mid way through last week Mike Leong, known to us all as Xen, was found dead in his flat in Auckland. Xen originally met most of you whilst playing Tribes first as an adversary when he and I played for Malks, then as a founding member of AE, so many years ago. Personally, he was one of my best friends and I feel as though I have lost both a soul mate and brother.
For those who knew Mike, please have a read of the site that I have posted to celebrate Mike and describe how much I will miss him.
http://web.me.com/chris.weeks/Xen/Mike_Leong.html
Please refrain from defacing this thread, Xen was a massive fan of Tribes and played both Tribes 1 and Tribes 2 throughout their most popular times and should be considered a comrade to us all.
I am sorry this is my first contact for so long, to deliver such a terrible message.
Chris, aka [Malks] Mr Green, AE.LewsTherin, |MX3|Mr Green
